Haifa for me was nothing more than a brief stopoff between Akko and Tel Aviv. Positioned on the railway line between both destinations it was an easy pitstop and I had heard it was worth a fleeting visit.
I arrived at the German colony area and made a beeline for a croissant and cappuccino. I’d had more than my fill of Arabic coffee and hummus over the last few days and was ready for some familiar food. It tasted so good!!
For lunch I called in Garden cafe for a lentil, sweet potato and halloumi salad along with a fresh lemonade. The portion was humongous and I took most of it away to eat later. Cue envious looks from others at the hostel cooking pot noodles hehe.
I then took the 136 bus up the steep hill for a view over the Bahia gardens. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the incredible view of the city from this viewpoint.
Unfortunately most of the gardens were closed, which was a shame as they would have been a welcome respite from the heat.

After making my way down the hill stopping off at the sculpture garden en route I made my way down to one of the bars near my hostel for an Apple cider- my favourite drink in Israel!
I returned to my hostel tired from the sun and ready to sleep and wake up fresh as a daisy the next day to head to my last port of call in Israel – Tel Aviv..
